  1. Hi there Awatea,

My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you as part of the Summer Learning Journey team this summer. It's great to see that you've started blogging with us!

Great work with this activity! Your pepeha looks great. Have you written it before? It looks as though you might have.

It's important to know our pepeha because it allows us to acknowledge our ancestors and also understand who we are a bit more. What do you think?

I look forward to reading more of your blog over the summer.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Kia Ora Awatea,

My name is Jordan and I'm the Kootuitui (Papakura, South Auckland) cluster manager. I'm also lucky enough to have the opportunity to blog with you this summer.
Ka pai e hoa for providing us with your pepeha; it's clear that you're in touch with Te Ao Māori.
Can you tell us anything else about your whakapapa?

I look forward to hearing more about your whakapapa :)

    Ngā mihi,

    Jordan

  3. Bula vinaka Awatea,
my name is Cia. I am a Ako Hiko Summer Learning Journey commentator who will be working with various bloggers over the summer break.

It was wonderful reading your pepeha. I think it’s wonderful that you can recite your land and birthright so far back in time, thank you for sharing an important part of you with me.

I can recite my own lineage up to almost six generations before me and I am still learning new things about my ancestors and the places I come from. I think it is so important to pass on information about who we are and where we came from to the future generations, to celebrate and honour our journey of life. What are you thoughts?

I hope you’re having a stellar holiday break and staying safe this summer!

Toe feiloa’i fo’i ('See you again' in Samoan),

    Cia.
